Lucknow to Dudhwa National Park

Best Session: November to May (The park remains closed from July to October).
Journey by Road .
Total Distance 210KM from Lucknow (HazaratGanj) to Dudhwa
Starting from Lucknow:
Take a route to NH 24 (Lucknow-Delhi highway VIA Sitapur)
Although Lucknow to Sitapur is connected by NH 24, a national highway. Infect one of the busiest highways in India, but road condition is not good.
First Landmark: Sitapur 80 KM.
Do not enter into Sitapur City.
Just before (around 100 Mtr back) Sitapur bypass take a right turn and cross a railway crossing.
This turn will take you on the Lakhimpur-Khiri Road.

Second Landmark: Lakhimpur 55 KM.
Road is good and mostly covered by trees on both sides of Road.

Third Landmark: PaliaKalan 60 KM
Lakhimpur to PaliaKalan road is OK and you’ll pass a very interesting railway bridge before PaliaKalan. This bridge is used by both Train and Other Vehicles. Because this is the only available way to cross the river. So you have to wait for some time if there is any signal for Train passing.

Enter in PaliaKalan City (actually a small town).
After crossing complete town you’ll get a right turn towards your final destination- Dudhwa National Park.
PaliaKalan to Dudhwa National Park distance is 10 KM

But before leaving to Dudhwa contact to Forest office in PaliaKalan (Very close to Palia-Dudhwa road intersection) for your Hut and accommodation booking in the Park Huts. Otherwise due to limited huts availability in the Jungle you have to stay out of Jungle. Few small budget guest houses, hotels are available in PaliaKalan
If your pocket allows you to pay some more amount then Tiger’s Den Hotel is a good option for staying. This hotel is operating by UP tourism department and is situated 5 KM back from Dudhwa Park entry on Palia-Dudhwa road.

Dudhwa Park gate opens two times in a day.
6 AM to 10 AM and 5 PM to 7 PM

So reach at least 30 min before gate opening time.

Charges are affordable for Jungle ride.

Rs 150/- for Vehicle entry for full day (for both entries).
Rs 50/- per head count (no charges for driver) for full day (for both entries).
Rs 100/- for Guide (you have to pay 100 Rs to guide for each entry).
Rs 100/- per head count for 3 hrs elephant ride (if you choose elephant ride).
Rs 25/KM if you hire a Jeep from Jungle (if you don’t have your own vehicle).

Two vehicles and pedestrians are not allowed to enter into Jungle.
I’ll suggest any vehicle with high ground clearance for jungle ride. Why?????
These pictures are self explainatory. It is very difficult and dangerous to take out your vehicle from such these kind of situations.

Normally 25-35 KM you drive in jungle in one entry, and by elephant rides around 8-10 KM.

Luck and your Guide plays a big role in the jungle to find out Lions, Beers, Crocodiles, and Rhinoceros.
Site scenes are very nice, refreshing, and natural in the jungle.

  3. Sorry ! No lions are there...he means tigers who may soon face a Sariska situation if we are not careful. Beers are definitely NOT on the official agenda but sloth bears are often sighted in Dudhwa.
